Obtaining Police Information

Q: How can I get a copy of a police report:
A:
In order to obtain a copy of a police report a Freedom of Information Request (FOIA) form must be completed (FOIA.PDF). The FOIA form can be located in the "Forms & Services" section of this website and may be submitted in person, by mail (made attention to records department), by fax to (248) 685-0543 or by email to foia@milfordpolice.com

To obtain a copy of a crime report, you must provide:

  • The name(s) and address(es) of the victim(s).
  • The insurance policy number if the requestor is an insurance company.
  • A release from the victim if the request is from an attorney.
  • The type of report - robbery, assault, etc.
  • The date and location of occurrence.
  • A report number, if known.

The person requesting a police report must submit payment payable to the Milford Police Department. To determine the cost, contact the records department: Monday - Friday during the hours of 8am to 4pm at (248) 684-1815.

Q: How can I get a copy of an accident report?

A copy of an accident/crash report maybe obtained online from Clemis (Courts and Law Enforcement Management Information System).


Q: How can I get a copy of my criminal record?
A:
A copy of your criminal record may be obtained via: 

  1. Identix
  2. I-Chat : Michigan State Police ICHAT (Internet Criminal History Access Tool)

Q: How can I get a copy of my driving record?
A: A copy of your driving record may be obtained by visiting a Michigan Secretary of State branch office or by submitting a request according to the instructions found on the Michigan Secretary of State website.

Q: How can I get a local clearance check (for adoption, etc.)?
A:
A clearance check may be obtained by completing the clearance check form. The clearance form may be submitted in person, by mail (made attention to Records Department) or by fax to (248) 685-0543.The person requesting a clearance check must submit payment payable to the Milford Police Department. The cost of a basic local background check is $10.00 per request. The person must provide identification when picking up the completed report. Clearance checks may be obtained Monday - Friday during the hours of 8am to 4pm.
