 Police Athletic League

The Milford Police PAL (Police Athletic League) program was established in 1989 after recognizing the need for a recreation oriented juvenile crime prevention program. The program, which is affiliated with the National Police Athletic League, relies on athletics and recreational activities to create and cement a bond between the police officers and community youth.

The PAL program promotes greater trust and understanding between youth and officers. It brings the participants under the supervision and constructive influence of law enforcement and expands awareness about the role of a police officer. That role is the reinforcement and support of the responsible values and attitudes instilled in young people by their parents.

Currently the PAL program benefits approximately 500 boys and girls in junior football and cheerleading in the fall. There are 72 boys participating in the PAL sponsored travel basketball league in the winter and 100 boys and girls in the summer junior golf league. In the spring, PAL sponsors a 3-on-3 basketball tournament that attracts over 450 boys and girls to the popular three-day event. A father/son golf outing closes out the activities in the late fall.

For information on PAL activities, please call (248)684-1322.
